Oct 18th
Diets. Nowadays it seems everyone is on one â all of the time!
But while Iâm a big advocate of eating the right way and being conscious of what you put in your body I think itâs also important to look at the reasons why youâre on a âdietâ.
Can there be a wrong reason to eat healthier? Of course there can be, and truthfully itâs any reason other than doing if for yourself – because YOU want to be better. But all too often people feel the need to look a certain way, or fit in with other peopleâs perceptions â and expectations.

Ask Alfonso: How Much Body-Fat Is Too Much?
Apr 6th
Hi Alfonso,
I was reading the piece on carbohydrates and there was a mention of 23% body fat. I have also read some people commenting on your side about having 5 to 6 % body fat …..thatâs not a lot, or am I wrong? I understand people want the underlying muscles to show – but is it healthy? Aren’t you cold all the time?
I think that 23% on the other hand is too much. I have 19.6 % body fat at this time, it was 20.1 when I started working out with your program. I know it must come down too, More >
The HCG Diet: Does It Really Work?
Mar 9th
Iâm still surprised by the ridiculous methods people use in their weight loss attempts.
My stance is and always has been that there are no shortcuts to health and fitness – no pill, no powders, no drinks that will help you slim down without inclusion of a healthy lifestyle. You know my drill, itâs all over this site. That just sounds ridiculous. All of these options could just More >

Iâm 28, 5â10â and weigh 170 lbs.
I work my butt off in the gym 4-5 times a week and am in good shape but like everyone else out there â Iâm always looking to bulk up more.
My question concerns protein powders. I eat a protein bar and down a protein shake each day religiously and also eat lean chicken, turkey and tuna. But I donât know how much protein I should be taking in each day.
One friend tells me I should aim to consume 2 grams of protein for each pound of bodyweight, another says itâs one gram and More >

Can You Actually Lose Weight And Still Eat Junk Food?
I recently was sent an article by a dear friend of mine that tells the story of a professor who replaced three of his meals per day with Twinkies!
Mark Haub, a professor of Human Nutrition at Kansas State University set out to prove that itâs the number of calories you consume on a daily basis and NOT necessarily the nutrients found within them, thatâs most important when trying to regulate body weight. The result was interesting â Mark ended up losing 27lbs during his experiment⌠so should we all go on More >

Iâm sure youâve seen them on the market and in stores⌠âtoning shoesâ – those bizarrely shaped sneakers that promise to help tone your leg muscles, improve circulation and posture, burn extra calories, and who knows what else!
Sketchers, Reebok and New Balance all have their own versions of the shoe and sales have skyrocketed over the past year, forecast to hit 1.5 billion this year â a 400% increase on 2009 sales. But now the tide appears to be turning.
Recently Eric Spunk, Nikeâs Vice President of Global Marketing finished up a speech to investors by poking fun at the $250 million âshape shoeâ More >
