Apr 19th
It’s time for another installment of Infomercial Insanity, where I review a popular fitness product and give you the pros and cons of each piece of equipment. Today it’s the Bowflex, the famous workout system that promises to train your whole body.
But is the Bowflex worth its price tag and will you get results? Here’s the Angry Trainer take…

Ask Alfonso: Tummy Trouble Too!
Mar 4th
Alfonso,
I have lost about 90 pounds in the last 2 years and now I’m at 210 pounds. I do cardio and abs to try to lose this gut but it doesn’t seem to be working. I run about 3 ½ miles a day and can run 1 mile in 6:30.
I also have excess skin so I THINK it makes me look bigger than I am but I want to lose as much weight on my core and back so I can get a tummy tuck. It doesn’t feel as though I am reducing fat in my stomach area, any More >
Ask Alfonso: Class Time?
Feb 16th
Hello Alfonso,
My local gym runs a range of classes for members – all of which are free such as spin classes, yoga, boxercise and high intensity aerobics.
My girlfriend and I want to take full advantage of our gym to make the most of our membership fees – but what kind of classes would you recommend Alfonso? What classes do you think are a waste of time – and which work? And how should we incorporate them alongside our weights and cardio routines?
Thanks
Rich, San Fernando
Ask Alfonso: Tummy Training Timetable
Feb 14th
Hi Alfonso,
I know you get asked abdominal questions all the time – but I really want your advice!
Summer’s on the way and I’d love a firmer stomach by the summer. My friend says I need to train abs every day, for at least 10 minutes per workout. But my other friend says that’s overtraining and twice a week is fine.
What do you say Alfonso – how much is two much, and how should I incorporate ab training into my regime?
Thanks
Sandy, Bay Ridge
Ask Alfonso: Are Rock Hard Abs Achievable?
Feb 7th
Hi there,
I have been reading about you for quite sometime now and I feel that you are the type of trainer I need and haven’t found yet! I am sure you are very, very, busy, but even the slightest information will be appreciated on my part.
I have been a dancer for 19 years now, and I pride myself on my dancer’s physique, but as I age I am noticing differences. I dance ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, and more. I also used to run track (sprinter and long jump) and I am very athletic. How can I get a tight and rock More >
ASK ALFONSO: HOTEL ROOM HELL
Dec 6th
Hi Alfonso,
I really want to stay in shape but my job is a nightmare when it comes to working out!
I work as a training co-coordinator for a major retail chain so am on the road for about 200 days of the year and always on the go. My company puts me up in a range of hotels but depending on the city or town I’m in the gym facilities available to me are really variable.
Sometimes the hotel has an amazing gym, sometimes it’s literally just a treadmill in a room! I really want to commit to a fitness program (I’m More >
ANGRY TRAINING – RICHARD (WEEK 6)
Nov 16th
Yes, it’s Angry Training Time again, where I put my money where my mouth is and showcase some of my clients – and the progress they’re (hopefully) making!
This week we’re checking in on Richard. Remember him – our recovering runner–holic, under eating, over achiever. He was burning way too many calories and not eating nearly enough on a daily basis, plus his exercise program was completely one dimensional as all he did was run, and run, and run, averaging 100 + miles per week!
I basically told Richard he had to almost completely stop running, except for some sprints once or More >
ASK ALFONSO: ABS-OLUTELY CONFUSED!
Nov 16th
Hey Alfonso,
Here’s my question.
Like a lot of people out there I’d love to get a six-pack – but my abs are covered by a few extra pounds. I know I need to lose the weight first – but of course I want to train my abs at the same time.
Unfortunately I feel totally overwhelmed by all the different abdominal exercises out there – sit ups, crunches, seated crunches, Russian Twists, leg lifts, etc.
Then when I read all the magazine they talk about training your top, middle and lower abs!
The result I’m totally lost! So tell me Alfonso – which More >
