Hey everyone!
You may remember a few weeks back I gave you my Top 10: Healthy Cooking Tips. Hopefully you picked up a few tips from that one and are preparing healthier meals.
Well today I’m going to present the flipside to my piece and tell you what I believe to be the Top Ten Ways To Ruin A Healthy Meal.
Many of you start off with the best of intentions but end up with high calorie healthy foods by not knowing or realizing how easy it is to spoil a meal and jack up the calories.
So here we go:

Ask Alfonso: How Late Can I Eat?
Apr 20th
Hi Alfonso,
I really enjoy your site! Thanks for keeping it simple and straightforward. My question is this: how late should I eat?
I have heard that you should eat about 2-3 hours before you go to sleep. I have also heard that you should eat when you’re hungry. For me the two conflict sometimes. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Naomi

Muscle Food: Protein Powered Pudding
Apr 7th
It’s time for another Muscle Food, where I suggest a quick and simple recipe that’ll fit right into your daily life and help you stay in shape.
Now all my previous posts have revolved around actual meals, so this time around I thought I’d share a favorite dessert recipe of mine. As you may know, I have a H U G E sweet tooth, so much so that I had to literally give up ice cream. But I still enjoy eating a sweet treat now and then, so I had to figure how to do it in a healthier way.

Ask Alfonso: Are All Calories Created Equal?
Mar 30th
Alfonso,
I just stumbled onto you site. I must say it is refreshing to see someone who not only is involved in the fitness industry, but also seeks to debunk some of the “mystery” surrounding tight-lipped fitness circles.
I think something that has been raising a good deal of questions lately has been, “is a calorie just a calorie?” Now, some people are saying that, simply put there is no difference. Others disagree; Dr. John Berardi comes to mind here, noting that calories are in fact not all created equal. What is your take on this?

The Angry Trainer Goes On A Diet!
Feb 6th
I think some people are under the notion that I have an easier time avoiding dietary temptations and sticking to a healthy eating regimen due to my job as a trainer and fitness enthusiast. And there may be a hint of truthfulness in that, but I still fall off the wagon occasionally and in times of stress I pig out and overeat just like a lot of people do.
The last few months, heck, the last few years of my life have been stressful to say the least, and I can be honest and say it was at my own hand More >
Ask Alfonso: Protein Powered
Jan 21st
Hi Alfonso,
I’m 28, 5’10” and weigh 170 lbs.
I work my butt off in the gym 4-5 times a week and am in good shape but like everyone else out there – I’m always looking to bulk up more.
My question concerns protein powders. I eat a protein bar and down a protein shake each day religiously and also eat lean chicken, turkey and tuna. But I don’t know how much protein I should be taking in each day.
One friend tells me I should aim to consume 2 grams of protein for each pound of bodyweight, another says it’s one gram and More >
