What’s Up Doc: Has Dr. Oz Gone Mad?
Feb 24th
The other day I happened to be flipping through TV channels and came upon The Dr Oz Show.
For the most part, I like Dr. Oz – I think he’s hip, current and above all he explains things to people in ways that are easily understandable. BUT I will tell you that this particular episode left me disappointed, disgusted and frankly pissed off!
This particular show’s topic was centered on the subject of women’s backsides and how to reduce the size of a woman’s butt. Dr. Oz had a stage filled with women who all gave the reasons why they hated their More >
5 Tips In 5 Minutes: 5 Worst Reasons To Start A Diet! (Podcast)

Diets. Nowadays it seems everyone is on one – all of the time!
But while I’m a big advocate of eating the right way and being conscious of what you put in your body I think it’s also important to look at the reasons why you’re on a ‘diet’.
Can there be a wrong reason to eat healthier? Of course there can be, and truthfully it’s any reason other than doing if for yourself – because YOU want to be better. But all too often people feel the need to look a certain way, or fit in with other people’s perceptions – and expectations.

Ask Alfonso: Help – Working Out Makes Me Hungry!
Jul 8th
Hello Alfonso,
I’m an ectomorph and I have been looking for a solution to put on some muscle weight. Well, I’ve managed to gain weight through weight training workouts, but I have one little problem.
As I grow muscle, I tend to eat more than usual and I have fat around my belly, which makes me look disproportional. I do abs exercises such as crunches, leg raises etc., but it seems like it doesn’t help that much. Does this mean I have to do cardio workouts? I ask because I’ve heard that cardio counteracts with weight training, so what’s the wise More >
Ask Alfonso: I’ve Stopped Losing Weight – Now What?
May 20th
Hi Alfonso,
In the last year and a half, I have lost about 110 lbs. Recently I was sick for about 4 months and I could not work out during that time as my doctor advised against it. So because of my inactivity and bad eating, I gained about 20 lbs. back.
I’ve begun working out again regularly; five times a week, an hour of cardio, and about 15 minutes of weights. I’m frustrated because the scale has not moved since February, and I have about 60 more lbs I want to lose. I started out at 330lbs., and am now down More >
Ask Alfonso: Can I Gain Muscle And Lose Fat At The Same Time?
May 12th
Hey Alfonso,
I’m 5’10 175-180 lbs, with relatively low body fat. I had my body fat tested a year ago and it was 11% but I just had gall bladder surgery so my abs are a little softer than usual! I’m back hitting it hard again and was wondering what type of program you would recommend for gaining size while leaning out to gain more definition.
From what I have heard/studied, at least from a bodybuilders standpoint, you should focus on mass gain OR fat loss. Is that true? Is it possible to gain muscle size and also trim down at More >
Ask Alfonso: I’m Sore! Should I Workout?
May 4th
Hi Alfonso!
First of all, congratulations on your recent partnership with Discovery Fit & Health! Glad to see this website is spreading the word and busting fitness myths on a larger scale.
I’ve been following Body Rock TV for quite a while now, though I only started “bodyrocking” a few days ago. The way it works is that they put up a schedule and do HIIT for about 5 days a week. I’m sure someone already in good shape can jump into this routine, but I’m not sure if I should start out doing these workouts every day. Up till More >
Ask Alfonso: My Meds Made Me Gain Weight!
May 2nd
Hello Alfonso,
Last year I was put on a high dose of steroids, which caused me to gain 75lbs. I was just recently taken off the meds and want to begin working out so that I can find the real me that is hidden within.
I am confused about the direction I should take; some people say that I should just do cardio to burn fat, then do body weight exercises to gain muscle.
Others say that body weight exercises, like the ones on this site and BodyRockTV will do both.
I am fearful of building muscle beneath the fat and More >
Ask Alfonso: Should I Count Calories?
Apr 27th
Hi Alfonso,
I’m wondering what your thoughts are on calorie counting? Do you believe calorie counting is necessary for people to stay at their preferred weight? I’ve counted calories and it’s always frustrating to me. Almost as if I’m a failure for not being able to just eat the right amounts of food for fuel.
I find counting calories makes me MORE obsessed with food; even eating when I’m not hungry to make sure I get “enough” calories. And I have feelings of guilt if I go over my daily allowance. It’s a vicious cycle. What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Chrystal
