Top 10: Convenience Store Foods
Jan 15th
I’ve experienced this scenario and I’m sure you have too – you’re out and about and forgot to pack food. The next thing you know, it’s been hours since you’ve eaten and there’s no real place to find food to eat – no supermarkets, no fast food, nothing.
But there are plenty of gas stations with mini markets inside or small roadside convenience stores with limited choices. And of course there’s that old standby – the 7/11!
So can you find something decent to eat, that doesn’t smash your diet or put you in a sugar coma? Yes you can!

Ask Alfonso: Cooking Oil Confusion!
Dec 2nd
Hi Alfonso,
I’ve heard a lot about replacing some oils used in baking with coconut oil. A friend of mine swears that it has helped her lose weight and is a better choice than olive oil.
Is this true? I though olive oil was healthy?
Thank you
Totally Confused,

Ask Alfonso: Food Allergies And Fat Loss
Oct 12th
Hi Alfonso
I was vegan for 12 years up to 3 years ago. However, due to some nutritional deficiencies and health issues; sluggish thyroid, exhausted adrenals, multiple food allergies (nuts, legumes, peas, green beans, pineapple, in addition to dairy, eggs, and wheat) I was “ordered” by my doc to start eating meat again.
I started with only shellfish and graduated to actual fish although now I’m allergic. Now, I eat primarily bison, fish, and occasionally organic, free run chicken/turkey. I eat very little fruit, and tons of veggies. So, overall my diet is clean. However, I have started packing on the More >

Ask Alfonso: Are Fruit And Yogurt Good Breakfast Choices?
Jul 27th
Hi Alfonso,
I came across your great website. I’ve been working out for past 4 months (mostly BodyRock workouts) and although I’ve spent some time searching the Internet for nutrition advice, it’s still sort of confusing for me.
I started eating a bowl of fruit and yogurt for breakfast a few weeks ago and about an hour after that I do my workout (I leave for work about noon so I have plenty of time). Sometimes I don’t have time to workout in the morning so I do it later in the afternoon but my breakfast is still the same.

Fast Food Fix: Chick-Fil-A
Jul 16th
Here we go with another Fast Food Fix, where I review a popular fast food chain and suggest 3 healthy choices, and what dishes to steer clear of based on their nutritional value, or lack thereof.
Todays post is an eatery I’ve never been to – Chick-Fil-A, the popular fried chicken pit stop. That may be because there’s only one location in NY, but there are 253 in Texas! I guess everything is bigger in Texas!
But while I can’t comment on taste I can rate the chain’s nutritional values.
