Program Review: The Working Out Sucks 21-Day Kickstart (Week 2)
Jan 31st
As you may have seen here on the site, a couple of weeks ago I started a review of the Working Out Sucks 21-Day Kickstart – inspired by the book Working Out Sucks! by Chuck Runyon, CEO and founder of Anytime Fitness. Many of you wanted to know some more details about the program so here’s my week 2 update!
As a refresher, week 1 of the program basically required that you alternate weight training and cardio 6 day per week. On the longer weight training days, you use only 10 exercises in a circuit and go through them twice. Not much has More >
It’s January 31st – So Are Your Resolutions Still On Track?
Jan 31st
So here we are, the last day of the month.
Man that was fast wasn’t it? It seems like just a few days ago I was wishing you all a Happy New Year and asking what your resolutions were. Let’s be honest shall we? Many of us made resolutions but within a week or two just dumped our plans. So today I’m asking you – Are your resolutions still on track?
Actually mine are. I shared with the world that I was giving up Tortilla chips, peanut butter and diet soda. The first few days were tough, I won’t lie. And as More >

The Next Angry Trainer Ustream Chat: Cardio Questions
Jan 30th
Okay everyone – time to announce the topic for this week’s Ustream Chat.
You may remember that my last chat topic was Diet Dilemmas and I hope it helped some of you out there view the word “diet” in a new way – especially as we all know how abused the term has become! If you missed that chat and want to catch up – it’s now on my Angry Trainer Fitness You Tube page.
For this week’s Ustream chat I’m tackling another very confusing subject – Cardio. This is going to be a great chat! Cardio is one of the biggest More >
Fried Food ISN’T Bad For You? Seriously?
Jan 28th
Okay everyone – check this out for a headline: Research Shows Fried Foods Don’t Contribute to Heart Disease. Yep that was an actual article published this week. Come on, really?
So should you all run out and eat French fries and batter dipped shrimp? Heck no, that’s absurd. Here’s the scoop behind this new research – 40,000 Spaniards were followed for 11 years. These people ate 138 grams of fried food per day, which included 14 grams of either sunflower or olive used for frying. And guess what, after 11 years only 606 of the 40,000 had an incidence of heart More >
Angry Issues: How Much Would You Pay For A Personal Trainer?
Jan 28th
Today’s Angry Issue definitely hits home for me.
I’ve worked as a personal trainer for 20 years now and over the years have seen some crazy fluctuations when it comes to rates of pay. I’ve seen people charge incredibly high rates for one-on-one training and on the flip side, some gyms trying to get away with paying McDonalds money. In fact a few months ago I actually met with a potential employer about working some sessions in a new facility. No bull, I was offered $10 per hour-long training session! Now that makes the Angry Trainer mad… but it also got More >

I love talking about gym culture and what goes on within fitness centers and health clubs across America (and the world). As I’ve said before, the gym is really like another planet in some ways. Some of the things people say and do are just hysterical – and universal. You know it’s really funny – if you go to enough gyms, you’ll meet the same people and hear the same things being said over and over again!
So today’s Top 10 is a list of phrases I’ve heard constantly throughout the years. How many of these have you heard, or said More >
