Don’t Forget – The Angry Trainer Diet Challenge Starts Tomorrow!
Sep 30th
Ok so it’s the 30th of September!
You know what that means right? Tomorrow is October 1st and it’s time for us all to get our diets in check!
A few days ago I challenged all of you to join me on a new diet regimen for the month of October.
I left it open for you all to decide on your own particular diet plans. For me personally I’ll be eating mostly a Paleo Diet for the next month consisting of vegetables, lean meats, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Now there is a twist – strict followers of the Paleo plan avoid rice, More >
Ask Alfonso: I’ve Hit A Plateau – Now What?
Sep 30th
Alfonso,
I’m 44 and have been working out at home for about two years. I’m an Ectomorph (long and thin), 6ft, 170 lbs., and about 15% body fat. I have 3 protein shakes with fruit and two meals that are lean white meat with veggies per day.
I want to add muscle mass and lose belly fat (which is all I have left), but I feel like this program is not helping me grow or lose the fat. I work out three times a week with weights and I look athletic, but I’ve reached a plateau. Any thoughts?

Exercise Rights And Wrongs: How To Perform A Plank And Push-up (VIDEO)
Sep 29th
Hi everyone!
I’m really excited to share this installment of Exercise Rights And Wrongs with you, our video series where I demonstrate the correct way to perform a given exercise.
The reason – I can’t tell you how many people I see performing planks and push-ups the wrong way. On paper they seem like such easy exercises – but they’re also easy to get wrong and unfortunately bad form can make you more susceptible to injury, and mean that your intended muscles don’t get trained appropriately. I’ve corrected countless trainees over the years, after seeing them in a horrible body position!

Infomercial Insanity: Neckline Slimmer
Sep 29th
I’ve been writing these Infomercial Insanity posts for months now and by now you’ve probably realized just how downright deceptive some companies can be. But it’s one thing for a product to not deliver on its promises, and another when it can lead to potential injuries or health problems.
Today I’m reviewing the Neckline Slimmer, a product that claims to get rid of double chins and tone your saggy neck. But personally I’m not so sure…
Here’s my Angry Trainer Fitness take…

Ask Alfonso: Can Canned Foods Be Good For You? (Podcast)
Sep 28th
Seth from NYC has written to me because he’s a bit confused on the nutrition front.
On one hand, I recommend eating a mostly whole food / natural diet. Yet on another, I suggest canned, bagged, and frozen meats, veggies, and even fruit. But are the two really incompatible?
Like many, Seth has begun to think that all things canned are processed, and along with his wife is having a hard time making better diet choices.
So in today’s Podcast I’m explaining the difference between processed and whole foods, and giving Seth some tips right off my plate!

Post Pregnancy Exercise: How Soon Is Too Soon?
Sep 27th
Here’s an interesting question for all you moms out there. After giving birth, how soon is too soon to start exercising again?
Earlier in the month I read a story on The Stir about new celebrity mom Jessica Alba that essentially called out called Alba as a bad role model. Why? Because when her newborn infant was just 2 weeks old, Alba tweeted she had just finished a 40-minute cardio workout. The implication was that Alba’s actions made all new moms feel bad? But is that fair… and was Jessica being smart in exercising so soon?
Well, we have a few issues here.

How Do I Get Rid Of My… Low Back Pain?
Sep 27th
Have you ever thrown your back out?
You know the sensation – you bent over to pick something up and got stuck there? Or do you have chronic throbbing in your lower back, maybe on just one side, which radiates down your leg?
I bet many of you have suffered some bout of low back pain at least once. I can tell you I’ve had a number of serious low back injuries that have left me in a lot of pain, and recent estimates suggest I’m not alone, with as many as 85% of you suffering similar issues.
So why do so many More >
