Charlie Sheen: Can Exercise Save Him?
Feb 28th
I’m sure you’ve all seen and heard about Charlie Sheen, his substance abuse problems and his latest media rants (check out my Top 10: Unhealthiest Celebrities list for more on Charlie and other out of shape celebs).
Sitting at home and watching those interviews was painful, and honestly I felt embarrassed for him. His vices have clearly sunk their teeth into his soul and he’s out of control. I know the conventional way of treating substance abuse is traditional rehab and therapy, but I think something else can play a huge role in helping people treat an addiction problem, and is being More >
Ask Alfonso: Night Time Nutrition
Feb 28th
Hello Alfonso.
Because of lifestyle, kids, work, etc. my weight training during the week is done late at night (around 9.30 or 10.00 PM). By that time I’ve had breakfast, lunch, dinner (around 500 cal each) and two snacks (around 100-200 cal each).
I understand the right meal/snack after weight training is critical to building muscle. What should I eat after weight training? Should I reduce the calories or one of my other meals/snacks? My overall goal is to become leaner and build some muscle.

Top 10: Unhealthiest Celebrities
Feb 27th
If you recall, one of my last Top 10’s focused on the fittest Pop Stars, so it seems only appropriate that this week we go to the polar opposite – yep, we’re counting down the most unhealthiest celebrities in America today!
There’s many things that can lead me to believe a person is unhealthy; their habits, lifestyle, and of course body weight are just a few indicators – but for some of these names their fitness failures aren’t exactly hidden… to keep the list fresh I’ve tried to add in some surprising choices alongside some more obvious contenders…
So here’s my list More >
Guest Posting: How Training Changed My Life…
Feb 27th
Hey everyone – Alfonso here!
Today I’m thrilled to announce our first Guest Posting here at Angry Trainer Fitness, hopefully the first of many to come. You see, I want this site to be about more than just myself and my opinions. I want all of you out there to have a voice too. And while it’s important that we all share the same basic theories – sorry guys but you’ll probably never read a Jillian Michaels piece here on the site – I’m always happy to be challenged and have my mind changed. No one has ALL the answers.
So our first More >
Fast Food Fix: KFC
Feb 26th
Here we go again with another installment of Fast Food Fix, where I review a fast food franchise’s food options, and pick the best 3 choices for you to eat based on their nutritional value.
Today I’m talking about Kentucky Fried Chicken, more commonly known as KFC. Few foods taste as good as breaded and deep-fried chicken and this chains version are no exception. But I don’t need to tell you that anything fried is unhealthy and loaded with saturated fat now do I?
Thankfully, KFC has recognized how much they’ve contributed to American’s ever-expanding waistband, and has introduced a series of More >
Ask Alfonso: How Do I Gain Without Pain?
Feb 26th
Alfonso,
I have a question –
I am a 45 year old woman, fairly out of shape and want to start over again. I also want to do it right this time so I can stick with it and don’t quit as I have always done in the past. I can get very high – spirited and fall down as hard. That is my problem.
I would like you to advise me on how to incorporate your Real Strength program (at home). It seems like a lot to start with. In your notes you say that at the end of day More >
More Cardio Confusion – Try H.I.T.T.
Feb 25th
Few modes of exercise create such misinformation as cardiovascular or aerobic activities.
In my first Cardio Confusion posting, I debunked the myth that weight training isn’t cardiovascular training, and that the best way to lose weight is to perform hours of boring, mundane aerobic activities.
But within that myth, lies yet another untruth – this time the one that tells people, looking to burn the maximum amount of fat, that they should exercise in the 60% – 70% of their maximum heart rate range. It’s even printed on a graph labeled “fat burning zone” or something similar on most pieces of cardiovascular equipment. Testing The Trainers: Zuzana / Bodyrock TV
Feb 25th
Hey there everyone – it’s Testing the Trainers time again!
I recently received an email from Olga, a reader who wanted me to check out internet sensation Zuzana and her website www.bodyrock.tv.
Here’s what Olga wrote:
“It’s really refreshing to see a trainer who isn’t willing to subscribe to new and trendy fitness and nutrition trends. I’ve been following www.bodyrock.tv, and I was wondering what your opinion about the site was – do you think the fitness tips and exercises seem sound, as well as the nutrition advice? What do you think?”
What’s interesting is that my web designer Richard had already showed me Zuzana’s website More >
